Dear Visitor,

I am pleased to welcome you to SRO2000.com. I believe that after taking some time to view this site, you will agree with me that it provides a valuable resource for our children. The development of this detailed website underscores the commitment and dedication of the San Francisco Police Officers who participate in the School Resource Officers Program. The SRO program has made an important contribution to our public schools for more than half a century.

School Resource Officers provide positive role models and invaluable guidance to the youth of our city. They demonstrate strong models of citizenship and leadership. From my own experience, I know the tremendous effect a mentor can have on the direction of a young person's life. More than ever before and at younger ages, children and young adults are presented with challenges and pressures that require the support of an entire community of caring individuals. The SRO program reaches beyond the school community, involving parents, relatives and friends.

This site represents an important opportunity for young people and their parents to reach out to one another. It contains links to agencies and organizations that serve the needs of our young people and provides them with a forum to build and develop their own on-line community. There are also links to interactive sites that dynamically present the sciences, allowing children to satisfy their natural curiosity. I encourage you and your child to examine this site together.

I am honored to offer the introduction to this site. I hope that through this new asset our city will grow together to strengthen its future.

Sincerely,

Willie L. Brown, JR.

The SRO Program has been a successful asset to law enforcement agencies and schools across the United States. The School Resource Officer programs (abbreviated as SRO Programs), are helping parents nurture and raise healthy youth. The goal of any successful SRO Program is to constantly network and communicate with youth, families, schools and community based organizations. I consider this program to be another umbrella under the community policing concept at it's best. I encourage you to visit the various sites and I hope you find the resources helpful. Feel free to send me an E-mail message if you have some suggestions for improving the site.
