Parents
Line
Parent's Line
Developed with parents and guardians in mind, we know that parenting
can be a stressful responsibility. This link is established to help
aliviate some of the stress involved in raising your child in a major
metropolitan city. This line provides resources and services to you,
the caretakers of the cities youth. The link will also provide parents
with answers to questions regarding juvenile laws and issues pertinent
to juveniles in their school environment. Parents can also connect directly
to the San Francisco Unified School District web site. We believe this
linkage to the San Francisco Unified School District will provide the
means for parents to interpret school policies, procedures and be able
to better understand the rights of you and your children. If additional
assistance is desired, parents are also encouraged to send an e-mail
message to the SRO Web site. You will receive a response within twenty-
four hours of us having received it. On the weekend please allow a minimum
of three days. Keep parents up to date on National and California PTA/PTSCA
Conferences and meetings.
Parent/Child Contract
For parents who are encountering communication problems with your children,
we will provide you with a positive team building parent/youth-negotiating
technique known as the "Parent/Child Contract." This contract will enable
you and you child to negotiate effectively with each other. The Parent/Child
Contract incorporates your rules and guidelines, and consequences for
violating the established rules. All of this information will be pre-written
into this contract by you and your child. Each party will sign off in
agreement with this contract. But first, you must work together on the
contract and reach some mutual agreements and understandings. Also,
parents be aware that your child may have some serious issues to discuss.
It is important to listen, learn and let them voice their issues. Remember,
children imitate what they see, so we must try at all times to be a
positive and resourceful example for them. Feel free to download a copy
of the Parent/Child Contract and Negotiating Techniques.
